Monster Math is Canyons School District's Math Problem Solving Competition
​for all students in grades 1st-5th. 
It is an integrated program combining skills in reading, thinking, communicating, computing, conceptualizing, and math problem solving. Students work in groups to solve complex story problems. An emphasis is placed on explaining and documenting reasoning and approaches to how the problem was solved.

  • April 8 - April 26...Monster Math Registration Begins
  • April 15 - May 3...Contest Competition Window
  • April 15 ...Contest Problems Posted on Website for competition
  • May 3 ...Completed Contest Problems Due to ISD - Julie Page
  • May 17...Monster Math Contest Winners certificates and badges sent to schools

  • March 4th - Registration Opens
  • March 15th - Registration Closes
  • March 27th - Story Fest (4:30-6:30) Kindergarten thru 2nd Grade.  Location: Crescent View Building (11150 S. Green Ridge Dr. / 11100 S. 300 E. (turn south on road just west of tracks)
  • March 28th - Story Fest (4:30-6:30) 3rd Grade thru 5th Grade.  Location: Crescent View Building (11150 S. Green Ridge Dr. / 11100 S. 300 E. (turn south on road just west of tracks)
  
Story Fest is a storytelling showcase that engages students in the pursuit of literature and the arts and nurtures the preservation of the oral tradition of storytelling.
Students will:
    •Develop an appreciation of literature.
    •Develop an appreciation for the art of storytelling.
    •Develop presentation skills in telling stories.
    •Develop individual confidence in ability to use oral language.
